A Starry Minute, 2008-
[An ongoing project with the aim to be realized in 2009].

The idea for this public intervention entiteled A Starry Minute, is to ask all of the building owners at Times Square, New York City, USA, to turn out the commercial lights in the area simultaneously for one minute.

Point of departure for A Starry Minute is the concept of light pollution. The choice of site is Times Square since it might be one the brightest places on earth. Katja Aglert envision this ‘dark minute’ in Times Square as a moment to contemplate evening skies filled with stars. The suggested title, A Starry Minute, refers to the concept of a moment of silence or a silent minute, a gesture of respect, or a moment for contemplation and reflection.
