'Words written by Richard Nixon’s speechwriter William Safire in 1969 on the occasion of the Apollo 11 -mission are read aloud. A little balloon, lit from within, rises up into a dark city night while we listen to the full length of a speech that was never delivered: "Fate has ordained that the men who went to the Moon to explore in peace will stay on the Moon to rest in peace.
