The point of departure for this work were the building site of the main business hotel in the town of Umeå in Sweden. Before the hotel were built one of Umeå's first functionalist building and oldest cinema theater Odeon boasted the site. Despite the strong resistance from the population in the form of occupations and demonstrations, against the de-construction of Odeon, its existance ended in the beginning of the 1990's. R.I.P was a hommage to Odeon as well as an attempt to raise questions about on what grounds we define that cultural heritages are worth preserving for coming generations, or not.
R.I.P was on display in Avgångsutställning, curated by FA+, Bildmuseet, Umeå, Sweden, 2003.
