Stuffed City, 2011

Public art project: three paste ups, eight acoustic boards (paste ups variable sizes and each board 120x120 cm), four workshops.

In the spring of 2011, Katja Aglert was commissioned by Botkyrka municipality in Stockholm, to make a site-specific artwork to be installed at Karsby International School in Norsborg. The commission, curated by Paola Zamora, was to be realised in the school canteen and reflect the theme “food and environment”.

Katja Aglert created as part of the project a participatory framework manifested as four workshops in which ten students from the school took part. The workshops included field trips, discussions and practical work based on the thematics of the connection between food, environment and urbanisation. From the visual material that was created by the students during these workshops, Aglert developed three paste ups and eight acoustic boards for the canteen.

The artist wish to thank the participating students: Jessica Botrus, Suprioy Choudhury, Arijana Gashi, Sukhman Kaur, Betty Mekonen, Asif Mirza, Rahel Sisay , Kinga Swiatkiewicz, Rosel Tomeh, Ramona Muhammed Zein.
