Starry Sky at Siam, 2007

Starry Sky at Siam was developed specifically for Siam Square in Bangkok, Thailand. The work were to be displayed at 12 concrete columns holding the Sky train Station at Siam. The point of departure for this project were the environmental issues of Visual Pollution and Light pollution. The concept was to construct a representation of a night sky filled with stars integrated in the urban landscape. The 12 pellars were to be covered with the posters of starry skies. The images for the posters were made with photographs shot of logotype's (for instance Miss Sixty, Chanel, Armani, Versace) from commercial signs at Siam, and were then processed in a 3D computer program and 'blown up' into fragments. The posters should be printed in a flouroscent color so that if it was to be dark enough in the night time at Siam, the whole scenario under the Siam Sky train would glow like a Milky Way.

This project were commissioned by Bangkok International Art Festival, curated by Connelly LaMar. The project were never realized due to cancellation of BIAF because of bombings at New Years eve 2006/2007 in Bangkok.
