BIO
   
Katja Aglert lives and works in Stockholm, Sweden. Her practice is multidisciplinary in nature and includes
both individual and collaborative projects in video, installation, performance and works on paper.
   
In Sweden her work has been displayed at museums, film festivals, and art centers, including Göteborg
International Film Festival (2010); Borås Konstmuseum (2010); Moderna Museet, Stockholm (2008); Tensta
konsthall (2008; Recent exhibitions internationally, include Wexner Center for the Arts, Columbus, Ohio, USA
(2010); Hilger Contemporary, Vienna, Austria (2010); Tank.tv, UK (2009),
 
Besides her individual artistic practice Aglert is one of the initators and project managers of the artist run
run interdiciplinary text based project SQUID. She has also collaborated on projects with the artist Ian Burns
and Melissa Dubbin & Aaron S. Davidson among others.
   
Aglert has been awarded artist-in-residencies at the Helsinki International Artist’s Program (HIAP), Finland
(2010); The Arctic Circle, artist- and science led expedition residency, administered by the Farm Foundation
for the Arts and Sciences, NY, USA (2009); and Lower Manhattan Cultural Council’s Swingspace Program,
NYC, USA (2008 and 2009).
Aglert is the recipient of numerous grants including; International Artist Studio Program in Sweden (IASPIS);
Working Grant, Swedish Arts Grants Committee, Visual Arts Fund; and Nordic Culture Point.
   
Katja Aglert graduated in 2003, with MFA in Fine Arts (specializing in the video media) from Umeå Art
Academy, Umeå University, Sweden. During her education she had an exchange year at the Gerrit Rietveldt
Academy, Holland and she studied Gender Perspectives: People and society at School of Human Sciences
Umeå University.
